President's Message

I am honored to be the incoming President of the Florida Council for Exceptional Children for the 2007-08 year.  FCEC has a distinction of providing educators of special needs students networking and professional development opportunities through workshops, publications and conferences.  I am proud to be a part of the greatest professional organization in the world!

   The Leadership Institute held in Gainesville June 8 – 9, 2007, hosted by Gatorland Chapter #1024, was very well attended and __ chapters were represented!  Much information was shared and lots of learning occurred!  Thanks to everyone who attended.  And a big thank you to Gatorland Chapter #1024 for the hard work they invested in hosting this institute.

   Miami Chapter #121 is hosting the 2007 Annual FCEC Conference which will be held at the beautiful bahiaMar Beach Resort and Yachting Center in Ft. Lauderdale October 11-13^th.  Roll Out the Red Carpet:  Spotlight on Success! promises to be an excellent educational event.  I hope you will take advantage of this great professional development opportunity…and bring a general educator with you!

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and /or gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.
