My personal teaching philosophy includes

>   Teaching is not just to promote learning of the subject matter. I believe in helping the students learn to think logically, learn problem-solving methods and techniques.

>   Serve as a model for students.

>   Enthusiasm, high expectations, and master knowledge in an environment of respect are the keys to achievement.

>   Treating all students with absolute equality, regardless of age, gender, nationality, intellectual ability or personal attractiveness.

>   Considering diversity as a strength and a healthy foundation for scholarly dialogue and intellectual growth.

>   Teaching the students how to elaborate questions, not only how to get answers. I want students not only get a diploma, but also incorporate in their lives the necessity for continuous knowledge.

>   Establish a warm and nurturing environment for learning to take place

>   Address various student interests and abilities

I recognize that my teaching philosophy of today will not be my philosophy of tomorrow, as I will be enriched with more experiences, failures, trials, and success. I know that my approaches will be a continuous process of adaptation to the students, their level of development, and styles of learning. But in a whole, my goals will be the same: academic achievement, personal success, and the satisfaction to transform individuals our society requires to improve our quality of life.

My Teaching Philosophy                                                  Ximena

My philosophy  first, is to know and understand myself before I'll be able to understand my students. Accepting myself, then I will be able to help students have meaningful experiences, develop their aptitudes and abilities, face their inner difficulties, and accept themselves as people.

Educational Philosophy                                                  Rondon, Bethiema

In my opinion my job is to prepare students for the real world.  That is why I believe in essentialism philosophy.  It stresses the need for the fundamental subjects such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. I believe that the goal of education is for children to get a strong understanding of these basics subjects before they are challenged by more modern subjects such as the arts, humanities, and literature.  It also helps develops the social skills that they will need in order to interact with people throughout their lives; and, it gives the basic knowledge and skills that are necessary to function and become productive members of society.  I believe that the role of the teacher is to be authoritative, expert and to teach usefulness.  I believe that students should come to school to listen and learn in a systematic and organized method.  As a teacher, I will try my best to help the individual students develop these skills by including various teaching methods such as cooperative learning and hands-on activities in our everyday routine.

My plans for the future are to graduate from MDC with a degree in Special Education (K-12).  I will then continue my education by working towards my master’s degree in education.  My goal is to teach either first grade in the public school system because I strongly believe that a child’s first years of school establishes their success throughout their entire school experience.  I know that I will be exposed to new information throughout my college years and in my career that could alter my philosophy, so I will try to go along with the changing times.

Nathalia Arango                              Mission Statement & Teaching Philosophy

Mission Statement

To succeed in life by achieving the goals that I put upon myself; however, I will take each goal one step at a time in order to continue my path through live with the least amount of “stress” possible and with a good attitude towards life.

Philosophy:

My philosophy towards teaching is simple, I believe that the essence of education is growth, that the learner is a unique, free, choosing and responsible creature that has a wide intellect and emotions. I also feel that the environment of education should be one that encourages the growth of free, creative individuality, not as an adjustment to group thinking or the public norms. The goal of education should be to provide a framework of knowledge for the student, which new truths can be gathered and assimilated. Furthermore, the school should educate the child to attain the basic knowledge necessary to understand the real world outside.  All of these views I have gathered over my years of study, when I had the opportunity to see which of the four main philosophies was.  So far I am more of an Essentialist, yet I know that my teaching philosophy has not fully developed and only time and my experiences through life will I be able to truly adjust to a developmental philosophy for teaching.
